A VERTICAL KILOMETER?

A popular European style of racing, Vertical Kilometer, or VK, is a race with over 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) of vertical climb, not exceeding 5 kilometers (3.2 miles) in distance, and have 5% of the total distance must be over 33% incline.

So, this race is a VK! Not sure if that is good or bad news for you, but either way, expect a top quality climb.

THE COURSE

A 22% incline might not mean anything to you now, it will after the race! It is the average grade up the Old Si Trail.

One of the few true VK’s in the US, the Mt Si VK is one of the steepest races in the United States. Power hiking is encouraged. Even the top runners will find themselves hiking. The route ascends through a old woods single track on a somewhat rooty but often smooth(ish) trail, ending at a rocky outcrop viewing.

You’ll be greeted by race staff, refreshments, and a great view. Hang out & clang on a cowbell as other runners come in before jogging back down to the TH.

This event is limited to the first 70 runners.
